Plan your January in December. Take one honest minute. What disrupted your dinner most this year? What task did you do at 10pm that a machine could have handled at 10am? Which message did you type so often you could scream? You know the answer. It's what you just thought of. Write it down now. The quiet time is short, and vague thoughts waste it.

Some annoyances are habits, and free
The price list that finally gets written, the FAQ page that finally answers the phone's favourite question. An afternoon, no vendor required.
Some are automation, and cheap
Reminders that send themselves, the review-request text after each job, the booking confirmations. Days, not weeks; sometimes just switching on features you already pay for.
Some are genuinely AI-shaped
The varied inbox, the quoting, the after-hours front door — and January is honestly enough time for a focused build: define in week one, ground and connect in weeks two and three, test in week four, live before February gets loud. Per-job pricing applies as ever, and so does the exit: if defining reveals a cheaper species of fix, that's what you should hear.
Why one, not five
The failed version of January is a transformation programme; the successful version is one annoyance, permanently deleted, still deleted in June. Compounding beats ambition: one fixed thing per January is five fixed things in five years, which is more than most businesses manage in a lifetime of Februaries. Pick the one.
