What it actually checks
- It finds your company on the public Companies House register and lists its current directors and people with significant control (PSCs).
- For each person it reads the identity-verification status the register has shown since November 2025, and counts who is showing as verified and who isn't.
- Company secretaries are left out on purpose: they have no duty to verify.
- Nothing is stored about your company beyond the check itself unless you ask for the weekly re-check, which needs an email.
How to read your result
- “Not showing on the register” is exactly that. The register can lag behind reality: someone who verified recently may not show yet, and some verified records carry no date.
- The verdict (the counts and the deadline) is free with no sign-up. The per-person list and a weekly re-check until 18 November need an email; there are three free checks a day per connection.
- The dates that matter: new appointments have verified since 18 November 2025; during the transition year an existing director’s real due date is tied to the company’s confirmation statement; on 18 November 2026 the transition ends for everyone.
- After the deadline Companies House has said enforcement follows: blocked filings, financial penalties, and unverified appointments flagged on the public register.
Questions people ask
- Does this tool verify my identity?
- No. It only reads the public register and tells you what it shows. Verifying is done with Companies House through GOV.UK One Login, or through an authorised agent such as your accountant. Doing it directly with Companies House is free; an agent may charge.
- I’m the only director and the owner. Do I count twice?
- Yes, in a sense: a director and a PSC (typically anyone owning more than 25% of the company) are both covered. In most small companies that’s the same person, verified once, showing in both roles.
- The register says I’m not showing but I did verify. What now?
- The register can take time to catch up, and a few verified records show no date. Check again in a week; if you asked for the weekly re-check we’ll do it for you. If it still doesn’t show, contact Companies House with your verification reference.
- Is the deadline really 18 November 2026?
- Yes. The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act made verification compulsory; the transition period for existing directors and PSCs ends on 18 November 2026. Companies House guidance is linked from your result.
