What your website tells customers in three seconds.
Nobody reads your website. They glance at it, form a verdict, and either stay or vanish. Here's what's actually being judged in that glance — and a free, honest score of how yours is doing.

The glance, decomposed
The three-second verdict isn't magic. It's a few quick questions. Do I get what this business does? Is it for people like me, here? Does it look alive and up-to-date? Can I see what to do next, like the price or a book button? A site can look great but miss these. A simple one can get them right. Customers aren't judging your design taste. They're seeing if buying from you looks easy and safe.
The costly part is that failure is silent, just like the AI-visibility issue. No one emails to say your homepage confused them. They just leave, and analytics calls it a bounce.
The usual three-second killers
Vagueness dressed as branding
'Welcome to excellence since 2009' answers none of the four questions. Hypothetically, a plumber whose homepage says 'emergency plumber, [your town], out within 4 hours, prices here' wins the glance against any amount of eloquence.
Buried basics
Hours, location, prices and contact details living three clicks deep — or only inside images, where neither hurried humans nor machines can read them.
Signs of abandonment
A last blog post from 2023, a dead Instagram link, this year's closure dates missing. Visitors read staleness as 'might not answer the phone either'.
No next step
Pages that describe but never invite. Every page should make the easiest next action obvious enough to hit with a thumb.
See your own glance, scored
The free Business Score in this article reviews your business as a stranger and a machine would. We check your site, public register, and reviews. Then, we give you a score out of 100. You'll get a few key fixes to focus on, not a long list of minor issues. If your score is high, you can feel reassured. If not, you've received valuable feedback at no cost.
Members can have their score re-run monthly. The aim is not just the number but watching it improve as you make changes. If one fix is 'the site should answer questions instead of just sitting there', we can discuss that together.
