# Licences & Registers Check

Is this business registered for what it does? Waste carrier status, permits, enforcement, sanctions.

For one UK company: Environment Agency registrations in England (waste carrier status and expiry, permits, exemptions, enforcement actions) and whether it is on the UK Sanctions List: said only when it matches a UK entry by its company number, or by its exact registered name and address; otherwise what was checked, never a clearance.

Before you let a firm take your waste away, supply you, or join your platform, the checks are public but scattered: the Environment Agency's registers for waste carriers, permits, exemptions and enforcement actions, and the UK Sanctions List. This endpoint runs them for one company: whether it's a registered waste carrier (and until when), what else it's registered or permitted for in England, whether enforcement action is listed against it, and whether its number, name or a former name appears against an entity on the UK Sanctions List.

## Why this one

- **Waste duty of care.** Using an unregistered carrier makes you liable too: the registration and its expiry, in one call.
- **The current sanctions list.** The FCDO's UK Sanctions List, the sole official list since January 2026, refreshed daily, with the list's own date on every answer.
- **Strict matching.** Company number first, exact name second; a holder with a different company number is never counted.
- **Honest limits.** England's registers only (the other nations keep their own). We say a company is on the sanctions list only on a definite match, never a maybe, and never give a clean bill: companies owned or controlled by someone listed aren't named on it.

## Conventions

- Auth: `x-api-key: kat_live_…` on every request (free key at https://meetkatalis.com/developers: a verified email and mobile, 100 credits a month, no card).
- One credit balance across every API; each endpoint's price is on its page and in `x-credits` in https://meetkatalis.com/openapi.yaml.
- Keys are camelCase everywhere. A registered company is `company: { name, number, status, statusDetail?, filingsOverdue? }` on the register endpoints; the enrichment family (enrich, score, assess, brand-kit, ai-visibility, tender-match) keeps `business` / `profile` with `companyNumber`.
- Every error has `code` and `requestId`; every reply an `x-request-id` header; a charged reply `x-credits-remaining`; a reply that gave credits back `x-credits-refunded`. Missing = 404 with `query`.
- Burst ceiling 60 requests a minute per key (429, `Retry-After`, no credits used). A failure on our side (5xx) gives the call's credits back.
- Company data contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
